The surfers’ dharma

The Surfer’s Dharma is a cinematic exploration of surfers finding their purpose. The film features prominent surfers, Tom Caroll, Koa Smith and Pacha Light. Emma was contacted by the film’s Director, and asked to promote it by producing a premiere in Byron Bay, Australia. The event was a huge success, tracking hundreds of people in from the local community and beyond, and dozens of brand sponsors including Stone and Wood, Varuna, Childe eyewear and more.

Following the sucess of the event, Emma helped curate a PR push of the films’ digital release, garnering articles from notable publications such as Surfer Magazine, and over 36,000 views on the Youtube launch.

In Emma’s words:
”Putting on my first Byron Bay event, for the Surfers Dharma film, was a huge labor of love. I wanted to give a massive thank you to Uriel Jean Armel, the film's producer, for believing in me to bring his vision to life in Australia, to Varuna Surf and Harry Patchett for their endless support, and to all of our amazing sponsors - Childe Eyewear, Noserider Surf Club, Cord & Roy, Drink Mellows, Stone & Wood Brewing Company and Avasol. And of course, to our amazing community for coming out! I was overflowing with love and gratitude for how many people came. It was so touching to hear how each individual was moved by this incredible film, and I couldn’t be more stoked to keep working on marketing it!

I met Uriel, the film's producer, while in Bali this year. A friend referred him to me, seeing as he was looking for someone to market the purpose-oriented surf film that he had created. Seeing my recent success in marketing the Maya and the Wave film through partnerships and social media, it was evident that I specialized in the exact niche he was looking for, and it was clear that our visions were aligned.

It’s incredible to see what has come from this meeting with Uriel in Bali, followed by a Byron surf session with the Varuna boys - 6 weeks later, here we are, we made our visions into reality.”
